Abstract :Adetognathus unicornis (Rexroad and Burton) is the first representative of conodont fossils from the Carboniferous Tsuchikurazawa Limestone in the Itoigawa area, Niigata Prefecture, central Japan. The occurrence of this species indicates that the age of the limestone correlates with the late Serpukhovian (= late Chesterian) of the early Carboniferous, which is consistent with previous reports.
